Why Visit The Lizard This Spring?

We love diving into all the seasons, as we embrace all the ebbs and flows the different times of the year brings. But theres something about entering the vibrancy of spring after a long winter, that really does hit different.

We get to welcome new wild life along the shore, and wonder at the sudden burst of colour along the hedgerows of our native Cornish wild flowers, but what makes the Lizard a must visit in spring?

Why visit the Lizard this Spring.

  1. See An Area of Outstanding Beauty In It’s Prime

“an area of countryside in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, that has been designated for conservation due to its significant landscape value.”

The Lizard Peninsula is recognised as an area of outstanding beauty. From its cliff tops, scape, and abundance of rare flora and wildlife. And these things are never more on display than in spring. Come and marvel at The Lizard right at the beginning of its most beautiful time of the year.

  2. Witness New Wild Life & Flora

Not only is The Lizard recognised as a place of outstanding beauty, its wildlife is something to see. Surrounding the shoreline in our rolling hills, we can now see the new life of lambs running along, but spring here also welcomes lesser known faces along its shoreline.

Look down below at the ocean and you may spot a barking shark around Lizard point. Or look up to the sky, and you may see our famous, but rare to see, Cornish Chough with its iconic orange beak and feet. Discover all the wildlife and flora to see this Spring at The Lizard, here.

  3. Taste The Spring Harvests

Spring though it welcomes so many beautiful visual displays, it also brings its own harvest that we can’t wait to taste here on our menus. Wild garlic marks the start of spring for many and can be found in wooded areas across the country. Mr Pickle, our local grower and picker, is also highlighting this season the likes of rhubarb and wild nettles. Too asparagus and elderflowers later into the season. View our menus here.

  4. Beat The Crowds Of Summer

Summer too many is the prime time to visit, but us locals know the real secret that off season is when you get to glimpse at the true grit of Cornwall. Spring though it dips its toe into high season, gives you the perfect balance of good weather, but before the crowds truly arrive along the South West coastal paths. Book today and beat the crowds..

  5. Spring Events

From eating, exploring and bird watching, there is also fun events to enjoy this season, from Easter Sunday, to our own Yoga & Wellness Retreat. This retreat is the perfect opportunity to stretch out those winter cobwebs, and get re-energised. For yogis and newbies, this weekend is for all experiences, and with food, cosy rooms and breakfast included, why not take the plunge?
