What we got up to over January

January for most felt like a month which simply didn’t want to end. But for the team here at Housel Bay, it seemed to fly by. From renovations, creating events and exciting new menus, January didn’t seem to last long.

We are constantly looking for ways to breathe new energy into our hotel. Whether this be physical changes, or creating experiences which embrace our beautiful location. Our January closure was the perfect opportunity for reflection and to get to work ready for the new year.

We started by firstly looking at ‘the snug’. We wanted to create more of a nook at the hotel, and what better way to create that cosy environment than adding a fireplace. Creating the perfect warm spot during those winter months, whilst also having the best window seat to gaze at the ocean in the summer.

The Terrace restaurant is a constant hub of activity, whether with guests from the hotel, or those coming after a long walk along the coast. We wanted to re-energise the space by lightening the floor, enhancing the view during those beautiful sunny days, and reflecting the sunlight inside and out. We also added more ambient lighting, helping shift the space from day to night.

Our biggest change came from renovating our signature restaurant ‘Fallowfields‘. Creating an environment which showcase Cornwall with art and design by local artists, whilst serving dishes with locally sourced ingredients. You will discover not only beautiful Cornish design, but materials chosen sustainably, showcasing our Housel Bay ethos of reconnecting to nature.

We hope you all enjoy the new spaces as much as we do!
